The Government of India has unveiled several new initiatives and programmes for engagement with the Indian diaspora.The Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC), a public-private partnership between the Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has announced its "India Connect" initiatives for a proactive and sustained engagement with Overseas Indians.
The OIFC India Fellows Programme is a key initiative of the OIFC in partnership with the Indian School of Business (ISB), which has campuses at Hyderabad and Mohali. A tailor-made programme, it includes significant academic inputs, diverse networking opportunities with Indian businessmen and entrepreneurs, and multiple field visits. The objective of the programme is for participants to get a well-rounded understanding of the business environment in India.
Participants will be able to reconnect with their country, which has one of the world's fastest growing economies, and tap huge emerging opportunities in manufacturing, e-commerce, retail and more.The immersive, practical and hands-on learning approach includes cases, simulations, group activities and will help participants have a firm understanding of the Indian business scenario, its norms and culture so they can effectively tap into the market.
The participants will network with young Indian entrepreneurs, have world-class faculty and senior industry, government and sector experts as guest speakers, learn to appreciate the business environment, the consumer mindset, the market realities in India and the emerging, innovative business models.In addition, the programme includes 10 monthly webinars and Google Hangouts.
The programmeconsists of a 12-day India Residency, comprising ten days of intensive experiential classroom sessions at the ISB campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali, and two days in Delhi.
It is targeted at Indian diaspora entrepreneurs, with the following characteristics:
Business owners or professionals in decision making capacity (preferably 21-39 years of age)
A minimum three years of experience
Potential investors in the India market
Business consultants based outside India but with interests in promoting
India International partners of Indian companies
The programme is priced at $5000 per participant. This fee includes boarding and lodging, programme/webinar-related learning material, local educational and cultural visits, all faculty costs and more.
Air travel from Hyderabad to Delhi is not included in the programme fee. Taxes, as appropriate, will be charged extra.
